Amos Decker, utredaren som inte glömmer något, följer med sin vän Alex Jamison till småstaden Baronville för att hälsa på Alex familj. Men semestern varar inte länge. Plötsligt står grannhuset i brand, och till sin förfäran upptäcker Decker två kroppar i huset. Branden är inte dödsorsaken.

Decker och Jamison bestämmer sig för att undersöka detta närmare men stöter på motstånd direkt, både från den lokala polisen och från invånarna. Morden visar sig vara toppen på isberget, och händelserna i Baronville verkar ha kopplingar till något större. Vad är det egentligen som döljer sig bakom småstadsidyllen? MORDEN I BARONVILLE fängslande mig från början till slut. Det är något mystiskt Baronville och allt Amos måste göra är att räkna ut allt och hålla sig själv och de omkring honom levande. Jag gillade verkligen bokens miljö, den en gång blomstrande staden är nu döende. Människorna som lever där har förlorat hoppet och tar till droger för att överleva vardagen. Det vilar en känsla av undergång över Baronville och något är hemskt fel där. En sak säkert, och det är några människor kommer ångra att Amos Decker bestämde sig för att följa med Alex till Baronville...

Boken var svår att sluta läsa och det överraskande mig inte då Baldacci alltid skriver thrillers som fängslar och fångar mitt intresse. Det här är bok fyra i Amos Decker-serien, men de är alla fristående så att du utan några problem kan läsa detta utan att ha läst de föregående tre böckerna.

THE FALLEN is an action filled book that thrilled me from the beginning until the end. There is a deep dark mystery hidden in Baronville and all Amos has to do is figure out it all, and keep himself and those around him alive. I loved the setting in this book, this once glorious town that now is filled with junkies and forlorn people. There is definitely something wrong with the city, but what? One thing for sure, and that is some people will regret that Amos Decker decided to tag along with Alex...

Personally, did I find this book to be hard to put down, then again that's what I expected from this book since Baldacci always writes heart-pounding, page-turning thrillers. THE FALLEN is book four in the Amos Decker series, but they are all stand-alone so you can without any problems read this without having read the previous three books.

Det är ett fängelse olikt alla andra, med ett säkerhetssystem utöver det vanliga och militärens hårda disciplinregler.

Ingen av fångarna har ens tänkt tanken på att rymma. Alla trodde att det var omöjligt. Fram tills nu. John Pullers äldre bror Robert är dömd för landsförräderi. Hans oförklarliga rymning från fängelset har gjort honom till landets mest eftersökta brottsling. Vita huset ser John Puller som länken till att finna Robert. David Baldacci har gjort det igen. Landsförrädaren är en fantastisk bok, precis som de andra böckerna jag har läst i den här serien och precis som alla andra bokar jag har läst av Baldacci hittills. Jag har länge velat veta mer om Robert Puller och det brott han säger ha gjort och nu fick jag äntligen veta varför han dömdes för landsförräderi.

Landsförrädaren börjar med att Robert Puller rymmer från fängelset. En manöver som borde ha varit omöjlig, men det verkar som att allt som inte skulle vara omöjligt att hända hände! John Puller vet inte vad hans bror dömdes för då han var utomlands när det hände och rättegångens material är hemlighetsstämplat.

Landsförrädaren är den tredje boken om John Puller och alla böcker kan läsas som fristående. Lita på mig, jag började med boken som kommer efter den här och läser sedan den första i serien. Boken är spännande från början till slut och du vet aldrig vem du ska lita på och personligen fann jag att läsa en bok med både John och Robert var toppen. Det är inte ett enkelt fall för John. Robert må ha begått högförräderi, men han är fortfarande hans storebror. Det finns en scen i slutet av boken som nästan fick mig att gråta. Jag älskar bara hur mitt i all spänning  kan det finnas ömma ögonblick. Förövrigt vill jag verkligen läsa en bok om AWOL, Johns katt. Jag bara vet att AWOL har många äventyr när John är ute och jagar onda typer.

David Baldacci has done it again. The Escape is a fabulous book, just like the other books I've read in this series and just like every other book I've read by Baldacci so far. I've wanted to learn more about Robert Puller and the crime he's said to have done and now I finally got to know why he was convicted of treason.

The Escape starts off with a Robert Puller escaping from prison. A maneuver that should have been impossible, but it seems that somehow everything that shouldn't be impossible to happen, happened! John Puller never knew what his brother had done to be convicted of treason since he was out of the country when it happened and the trial material is classified. Now he must persuade his brother because if there is someone that knows Robert it's John.

The Escape is the third book about John Puller and all the books can be read as standalone. Trust me, I started with the book that comes after this one and then read the first in the series. The book is action filled and you never know who to trust and I was really thrilled to read a book with both John and Robert in it. It's not an easy case for John. Robert may have committed high treason, but he's still his big brother. There is a scene at the end of the book that nearly brought me to tears. I just love how in the mids of all the action can there be tender moments. On a side note, I really want to read a book about AWOL, John's cat. I bet AWOL have a lot of adventures as John is out chasing bad guys.

I have read several David Baldacci books, but this is the first I've read in his Will Robie series. And, after finishing this one so do I, of course, want to read the previous four books. As usual is Baldacci's writing on top and I love how the book from page one to the last is filled with action. No slow parts in this book for sure.

For a new reader is this book pretty easy to get into. I find it very easy to get the gist of the main characters Will Robie and Jessica Reel. From what I learned through reading are they both very good at what they do and that they, on a more personal level care very much for each other. However, Reel seems to have had a change of heart after the events in the last book and Robie is both hurt and confused about it. And, now they have to work together to find the Blue Man, their handler. And, that will not be a walk in the park. The handler has disappeared from his hometown, and the town has quite a lot of people with secrets. Thankfully both Robie and Reel are used to dangerous situations. However, this mission might be too dangerous even for them...

End Game is an awesome thriller. This is just my kind of book with short chapters that often end with cliffhangers so you just have to read one more chapter. And, it's full of surprises, all the bloody time. You just didn't know whom to trust, or what the hell would happen next. I'm thrilled to know that I have the previous four books to read (as soon as I get them). This book is without any problem easy to get into even if you haven't read a single book in this series before, or a Baldacci book.

The Fix is the third book in the Amos Decker series. You don't have to read the previous books to enjoy this one. Personally, haven't I read the first book yet (although I'm eyeing right now since it's on my desk waiting to be read).

Amos Decker and his team have a new case, a man shoots and kills a woman outside FBI headquarters and then he shoots himself. But why? The man and the woman have no connection to each other and no one can understand why he did it. This is a strange case that soon gets even stranger when Harper Brown, an agent of the Defense Intelligence Agency gets involved with the case, first trying to get Amos to back down and then more and less helping them.

As usual, has Baldacci written an interesting thriller. What I love about this book not only the strange case, but small things like Marvin Mars showing up in the story and Decker and Jamison moving in together as roommates in a building that Mars bought. Just roommates, they are just friends, although Jamison seems sometimes a bit "fond" of Decker. However, Decker is not a man that's ready to move on from the tragic murder of his wife and daughter especially since with his extraordinary memory never can forget the sight of finding them. What he needs is friends and that's what he got in Mars and Jamison.

I liked how weird this case is, how they slowly had to unravel it to find out the motive for the killing. Did I see the ending coming? Partly to be honest. I was not totally surprised by the twist towards the end when we learn just how everything is connected. Sometimes, the answer is in front of your eyes all the time and I have read so many thrillers that I felt it was quite obvious who the person behind it all was. That doesn't mean that I did not enjoy reading the book, but some twist was just a bit too obvious...

Pullers faster hittas död i turiststaden Paradise i Florida. Den lokala polisen förklarar hennes död som en tragisk olycka, men precis innan hon dog skickade hon ett brev till Pullers far. I brevet berättar hon att skenet bedrar, och att ett mörker döljer sig under Paradise vackra yta. Puller blir alltmer övertygad om att hennes död inte var en olycka. Han misstänker att stadens palmer och kritvita sandstränder döljer en konspiration så chockerande att vissa är beredda att gå hur långt som helst för att hålla sanningen undangömd.

De bortglömda är den andra fristående delen i David Baldaccis serie om John Puller.

Jag läste bok fyra just precis innan jag fick chansen att läsa denna bok. Men det bekymrade mig inte så mycket då jag fann den senaste boken i John Puller series fantastiskt bra och jag hade hoppas på chansen att få läsa de tidigare böckerna. John Puller är en man som har en vana att hamna i strul verkar det som, lite som Lee Childs Jack Reacher. Kan vara det militära kopplingen som får mig att att tänka på Jack Reacher. I den här boken börjar allting med ett brev som Pullers far får från sin syster. Detta brev blir startskottet på ett helvete i paradiset kan man säga. För något är verkligen fel i Paradise i Florida....

De bortglömda är en spännande thriller som är svårt att lägga ifrån sig. Man blir uppslukad av handlingen och frågan är vem kan Puller egentligen lita på? Speciellt när t.o.m polisen i Paradise beter sig mystiskt. Blir ju inte bättre av att fler och fler personer plötsligt börjar dö. Vad är kopplingen mellan dödsfallen och vem är den stora mannen som räddar Pullers liv när han mitt i natten är i fara? Är han en vän eller fiende? För det verkar som han har är iblandad i fallet på något sätt...

Jag tyckte att de bortglömda var en mycket bra bok, det är absolut inga problem att läsa denna bok fristående från de andra serien. Själv är jag väldigt sugen på att läsa de två böcker jag ännu inte har läst i denna serie. Och självklart hoppas jag på att David Baldacci kommer att skriva många fler John Puller böcker.

I read book four in this series right just before I got the chance to read this book. But it didn't worry me much since I found the last book in the series fantastic and I was hoping to get the chance to read the previous books. John Puller is a man who has a habit of getting into trouble. It reminded me a bit of Lee Child's Jack Reacher. It may be the military connection that made me think of Jack Reacher. In this book, everything begins with a letter that Puller's father gets from his sister. This letter will mark the start of a Hell in Paradise one could say. For something is really wrong in Paradise in Florida ...

The Forgotten is an exciting thriller that is hard to put down. You become immersed in the action, and the question is who can Puller really trust? Especially when even the police in Paradise behave mysteriously. Then, more and more people suddenly begin to die. What is the connection, and how is the big man that one night save Puller's life? Is he a friend or foe? For it seems that he is involved in the case in some way ...

I thought The Forgotten was a very good book, there is absolutely no problem reading this book without having read the other books in the series. Personally, I'm very eager to read the two books I have not yet read in this series. And of course, I hope that David Baldacci will write more John Puller books.

Once again have I read the latest book in a series without having read the previous books. That's my special power. Well, it's probably just that I keep on discovering series when a couple of books have been released. I always see that as a good thing, when the book is really good because now I know that I have several books to read. And, No Man's Land was good, pretty awesome actually. I found myself really enjoying the story and its characters.

I always love when a story deals with old cases, and this with John Puller's missing mother was both intriguing and sad. She just walked out one day never to be seen again. What happened to her? Did she leave or was she murdered? Now, a woman is claiming that Puller's father could be the killer. But, Puller's father is suffering from dementia and living in a VA hospital. So Puller decided that he will find out the truth no matter what. 

I found No Man's Land to be very engrossing, I loved the characters, from Paul and Bobby Pullers to poor Paul Rogers. I was a bit worried when Veronica Knox showed up that the story would turn out to be a "will they or won't they" kind of book, but of course this is not a suspect romance novel and Knox and Pullar may have a thing, but business first.

No Man's Land is the fourth book in the John Pullar series, you can easily read this one without having read the previous book, although with the risk of getting hooked and needing to get the previous three books!

Review

My weakness for thrillers made me say yes to this book when I was asked if I wanted to read and review the book. Now I'm very glad I did. I haven't read Memory Man, the first book in the series, but that didn't stop me from truly enjoying this book. I do however plan to read the first book some day. 

The Last Mile starts off with Melvin Mars in prison very soon to be executed for the murder of his parents, but in the last minute, another man steps forward claiming he's the one behind the murder. Amos Decker takes an interest in the case because there are similarities between his case and Mars. This all happened in the first book so all I know is that his family was killed and I bet Decker was accused of the murder. The big question is, what really happened 20 years ago when Mars parents were killed? Why would someone confess to the crime in the last minute? Decker wants to take on this case despite the fact that there isn't really a case to take since Mars is going free. Decker is simply want to know the truth.

I found the book really compelling because the story took so many interesting turns that I never expected. I came to like the characters Mars, and Decker very much, and the story was truly intriguing. Especially when one started to finally understand what was really going on. At first, there was a lot of questions regarding the case (that wasn't a case but more a mission for Decker), and there were moments I feared for Mars life, especially since it wasn't even sure he would not be thrown in jail again. The book was thrilling and fascinating to read. I loved not knowing what was going on and just getting a piece of the puzzle now and then and the best part is when the whole picture started to take form and you read how Decker and the rest slowly getting to the truth. A truly remarkable good book! And, I love the last chapter, and especially the very last part of it!
